Dodgers Back In World Series After 29 Years
Yesterday, October 19, 2017, the Los Angeles Dodgers succeeded over the Chicago Cubs in Game 5 of the National League Championship Series, with the longest postseason winning streak in franchise history. The Dodgers won with an amazing 11-1 score, becoming the NLCS 2017 Champions, and securing a spot in the World Series. It is an incredible accomplishment for the Dodgers since the last time they made it to the World Series was in 1988, and the 29-year drought is finally over as they prepare for the first game of the World Series on Tuesday, October 24th at Dodgers Stadium.
Dodgers All-Star Lineup
The Dodgers have a powerful lineup this season. With co-NLCS MVPs Justin Turner and Chris Taylor leading a tough lineup, there was nothing that could stand in the way of the Los Angeles Dodgers this season, which is why they led with a 104 win during the regular season.
Another stand out player this season is the occasional game starter, Enrique (Kique) Hernandez. Last night alone he managed to hit three home runs, only a few players like no other than Babe Ruth and Reggie Jackson have hit 3 home runs in the post season! The first one was a solo home run in the second inning, and then he hit a grand slam in the third and a final two-run home run in the ninth inning.
Pitcher Clayton Kershaw, considered to be the best pitcher in the league, also hit quite the achievement by knocking out six great innings. With only 89 pitches, he gave up only one run and three hits. At the mere age of 29, he is now headed into his first ever World Series.
Who Will The Dodgers Face In The World Series
The Los Angeles Dodgers are the first team to secure a spot in the World Series. Currently the New York Yankees and the Houston Astros are battling for the American League Championship Series title and for a chance to face the Dodgers at the World Series. As of today the Yankees lead with a 3-2 win over the Astros. If the Yankees are victorious in tonight’s game then it will be the Yankees that will face off the Dodgers. But, if the Astros win, then the final decision of who will battle the Dodgers will be made in game 7 of the ALCS Finals.
West Coast Against East Coast
Should the Yankees gain triumph over the Astros, the two teams would compete in the World Series for the 12th time. As long-term rivalries, it seems like playing against the Yankees would be the greatest challenge yet for the Dodgers. They will play at the Dodgers Stadium and Yankee Stadium, the two largest Major League Baseball Stadiums, and collect over 100,000 viewers.
Skyrocketing World Series Ticket Prices
Since it has been 29 years since the Dodgers were last in the World Series, it is only expected for ticket prices to rise. In fact, they have shot so high that a fan paid $72,008 for four-second row seats behind the Dodger’s dugout. Resale sites state that if the Yankees triumph over the Astros, the Dodger versus Yankees game will be the highest grossing World Series ticket.
